What kind of fertility clinic are you looking at?

The type of clinic that you're looking for decides the experience that you have. Usually, there are about three models that you might come across:

• Full-service clinics do everything on one site, from your first scan through to egg collection and the embryology lab. You will usually travel to the same building every time.
• Satellite clinics handle your consultations, scans and monitoring at their own smaller site, then carry out egg collection at a larger licensed centre they are attached to. They tend to feel more personal, and they are often much easier to reach.
• Telehealth clinics run your consultations online and send you to a partner site near you for scans and bloods, so most of your appointments happen close to home.

Aria Fertility

Aria sits on Welbeck Way, a few minutes' walk from Bond Street and close enough to Marylebone to work if you are coming in by train. 

It is an HFEA-licensed clinic, and it is on the smaller, more boutique end of things, which many people prefer when the idea of walking into a big hospital feels like a lot. 

Care at Aria Fertility is led by Dr Xulin Foo and Dr Srividya Seshadri, and the clinic covers fertility assessments, egg freezing, IVF, ICSI and donor egg treatment. 

Aria also has a low single egg freezing cycle fee, due to their partnership with Amilis, at £3,295, and it comes down further depending on whether you’re going for multiple cycles or if you have insurance covering parts of the treatment.

The Evewell

The Evewell has two London sites, both HFEA-licensed: one at 61 Harley Street, closest to Oxford Circus, and one at 182 Hammersmith Road in West London, a short walk from Hammersmith. 

The team is led by Mr Colin Davis, who is also lead fertility clinician at St Bartholomew's.

What makes The Evewell worth a look is that the team is known for their warm welcome and treatment throughout, especially for conditions such as endometriosis, fibroids or PCOS/PMOS.

Lister Fertility Clinic

Lister has been treating patients for over 35 years and reports more than 21,000 births, which makes it one of the most established names in UK fertility. 

You can be seen at their Chelsea Bridge Road clinic (Sloane Square or Victoria), or at The Portland on Great Portland Street (Regent's Park), or at The Shard by London Bridge. 

All three are on the HFEA register, and the pricing does not differ based on the location of the clinic.

Care is led by specialists including Dr Linda Farahani and Dr Tim Bracewell-Milnes.

Lister also offers free counselling before, during and after treatment through a service they call Open Door- which is helpful for anyone going through fertility treatment.

Avenues Life

Avenues is two minutes from Euston station, which makes it one of the easiest clinics in this guide to reach if you are travelling in from outside London. 

It is HFEA-licensed, with a satellite site in Cambridge, and care comes from Dr Vivienne Hall and Dr Rami Wakim.

The clinic uses AI for specific parts of your egg freezing/IVF cycle such as sperm selection during ICSI and time-lapse assessment of how embryos are developing. 

Alongside that it offers counselling, acupuncture and nutritionist support, so there is more wraparound care here.

Manchester Fertility

Manchester Fertility has been running since 1986 from Amelia House at Cheadle Royal Business Park in Cheshire, with Stockport and Cheadle Hulme as the nearest stations. It is HFEA-licensed and is one of the larger, longer-established clinics outside London.

The clinic uses VIOLET™, an AI tool that helps assess egg quality and predict which embryos are likely to reach blastocyst. 

More practically for London folks most of your monitoring happens remotely, so an egg freezing cycle here usually means just two trips to the clinic: one for the scan and one for the collection itself.

Essential Fertility

Essential Fertility is Manchester Fertility's lower-cost service, registered as Manchester Fertility Services Ltd and working out of the same Cheadle Royal site. 

Treatment still happens in Manchester Fertility's HFEA-licensed centre, with more than 20 monitoring locations around the UK for your scans and bloods. 

At Essential Fertility, the same principles as Manchester, apply. Care is nurse-led, with Dr Raj Mathur and Dr Anamika Rao overseeing treatment and fertility doctors carrying out egg collection.

Essential Fertility also has an eligibility criteria, unlike its counterpart. If you meet their egg freezing or IVF criteria, your costs end up on the lower end.

Top Satellite Fertility Clinics in London

A satellite clinic is attached to a larger licensed centre. That means you have your consultations, scans and monitoring at the smaller site, and your egg collection happens at the main clinic.

The benefit here is a personalised experience with the doctors and generally shorter trips to the main clinic, especially if the satellite clinic is closer.

Alma Fertility

Alma is inside LIPS Healthcare at Turbine Hall B, Battersea Power Station, a short walk from Battersea Power Station station.

On the HFEA register it is a satellite clinic to The Lister Fertility Clinic, so your egg collection takes place under Lister's licence. Care at Alma Fertility is led by Dr Shabana Bora.

If you live south of the river, this is one of very few genuinely convenient options. Most private fertility care in London clusters around Harley Street, and getting across town for repeated testing and scans can be tiring.

Dr KAT Fertility

Dr Kat Fertility is on Redcliffe Street in Chelsea, closest to Fulham Broadway. It is a satellite clinic to King's Fertility on the HFEA register, and it is led by consultant gynaecologist Dr Kathiuska Kriedt.

Because you see the same consultant at every appointment, this tends to suit people whose diagnosis or treatment spans multiple sessions. Dr Kathiuska frequently treats aonditions such as low ovarian reserve, PCOS, recurrent miscarriage, or hormone problems.

IVF Matters

IVF Matters is at 10 Harley Street, near Oxford Circus, founded by Dr Irfana Koita. On the HFEA register, it is a satellite clinic to TFP Boston Place Fertility, since it combines virtual consultations with structured care plans.

The reason most people choose it is the pricing model. The cycle fee is inclusive of the HFEA fee and the monitoring, all medication, blood tests, egg collection, storage for a year, along with a consultation with a nutritionist/counsellor. These are usually priced separately in other clinics.

Plan Your Baby

Plan Your Baby is on the HFEA register and CQC-registered, and it is a telehealth clinic with over 450 partner locations, covering Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Oxford, and several London sites including Canary Wharf, Croydon, Greenwich, Highgate and Harley Street.

At this clinic, consultations are available seven days a week from early morning to late evening. This is helpful when your work schedules clash with other clinic timings.

Clínica Tambre

Clínica Tambre has been running since 1978 and is one of the better-known reproductive medicine centres in Spain, with sites in Madrid (C/ Tambre 8, closest to República Argentina) and Alicante. 

It has its own laboratories and specialists across reproductive medicine, embryology, genetics, immunology, urology and psychology.

Especially for patients looking to get an egg freezing or IVF cycle abroad, it's worth knowing that Clinica Tambre has dedicated international coordinators and treats patients from over 100 countries, so the logistics are well worn.

But it's important to know that Tambre is regulated under Spanish law rather than by the HFEA, and the rules might differ. 

The most significant one is that donation in Spain is anonymous, while UK law lets donor-conceived people access identifying information about their donor once they turn 18. If donor eggs or sperm might be part of your plan, it’s important to discuss these (or related) changes with the clinic so you’re well informed.

How do I choose the right fertility clinic for me?

Honestly, there is no single “best clinic” out there. It’s best to decide based on the location, the specialist, your medical history and concerns and any other factors that might affect your journey. 

But here’s a quick checklist of the things to look out for before you finalise a clinic:

Start with a free consultation

• Check which tube or train station the clinic is nearest, which helps you visualise that trip looks like from home or work at 7 am

Double check what the cycle fee includes.

• Ask every clinic for a costed treatment plan covering medication, monitoring bloods, screening, blastocyst culture, freezing and storage
• Check the storage fee from year two onwards, because some clinics offer the first year free
